Updates, updates for everyone!

Right now there are a lot of things on my mind so I thought I would just condense them all into one blog post to share with everyone. So as many of you know two weeks ago I published my first book Dark Cell! Well, more like a novella really since it's around 45 pages or so. I worked really hard on this novella and it's great that I finally figured out what to do with it. I was always torn what to do with it since it was too long to be a short story but not long enough to be a book so it hit me: self publish it as an e-book.
So that's what I did! I went through Amazon and published it through their Kindle Store. That way it's available to anyone with a Kindle, Kindle App or even the online Kindle Cloud Player. Once I started to see those numbers of copies (and royalties) climb I realized that I was one step closer to achieving my dreams. Now I'm only selling it for $0.99 because I want everyone to be able to afford it and be able to read it. Honestly it's never been about the money (although if I become immensely rich from my writing I wouldn't complain) it's about sharing my work with people out there. If I can touch one person with my writing I have achieved what I set out to do.
Honestly though the person I write for is me. Yes it's great now to have my work out there to share with people but for me it's all about the feeling I get when my fingers are flying across the keyboard or the pen fly across the page. There's no feeling like it in the world and that's what it's all about. I'll continue to write while having this book out there and still pursue getting my other book Summer's Hollow published which is a full length horror novel. Though if this whole e-book thing works out then I might decide to publish my other work in cluing my novel. Time will only tell. So if you haven't already go and download Dark Cell!
So that's what's going on on the writing front. Now on the school front: I am officially registered for classes! Well really it's just one class since I'll be only going part time but it's still exciting! My first class will be GIS and Spatial Analysis. For those of you who don't know this degree is completely online. It's done through web cams so we can watch the lectures and interact with the professor. This way people such as myself can still work time while going to school. Isn't technology awesome?
Starting September 3rd on Monday and Tuesday nights I will be buried in my computer learning all I can on different types of spatial analysis. This means that unfortunately though I have to give up volunteering at the museum. As much as it pains me to do this, it must be done. Between work and school I just won't have the time or energy to volunteer. I'm hoping that every once in awhile I can still help out but I won't be gracing the collection room with my presence as much as I do now.
One thing that I don't want to lose through this Grad school process though is my writing. Like I said before there's nothing like the feeling of writing especially completing a work and I don't want to lose that feeling. So you guys can't get rid of me that easily! My time spent on the internet might go down and my blog posts might widdle down to once a month but I'll still be writing and trying to keep up with all of this!

Oh and the image, that has nothing to do with this post I just thought it was funny, was from the comic strip Speed Bump from April 10, 2012. :)

Congrats on school! I know you were working hard on figuring that out. And congrats on the story too. I have it on my Kindle now, and I will be reading it soon. Thank you for sharing!
